#1. All vehicles should have a disposable camera in it.
#2. Remember if the vehicle is drivable and no one is injured the police sometimes won't come so you are on your own. You must do the following:
Take numerous pictures from all angles:
One of the person driving, one of the license plate, and many of the two cars BEFORE you move them.
#3. If the other person runs a stop sign, ran a red light or broke some other motor vehicle code, then call 911 back and insist that an office come to the scene. The other driver receiving a citation from the police helps you out with the insurance claim.
#4 Once your vehicle is safely off the road and no one is injured, then exchange information.
Look at their license and take down all the info to include their license number and expiration date in addition to their name and address.
Get their insurance card and again write every number down to include their coverage dates.
#5. If it was your fault and under $1000 you may want to pay for it out of your pocket. If that is the case then don't call the insurance company and make sure the other person knows you want to pay for it. Once the insurance company is contacted whether you pay for it out of your pocket or not they count it against your record.
