The
comprehensive evaluation includes an interview
to measure cognitive functioning, a vision test
on the Optec 2000P®, a scored test on an
interactive video, a Motor-Free Visual Perception
Test, a Mini-Mental State Exam and most importantly
an in-traffic, behind the wheel driving assessment.
The
evaluation request does not have to come from
a physician or rehab hospital. This process
is open to the general public and families with
concerns or driving needs.
The
evaluation process takes anywhere from 1 ½
- 3 hours and costs $300.00 if physically
disabled. The results from this process are
then sent to the physician or family who requested
it and if necessary to the Department of Transportation
Medical Unit. The results of the evaluation
are discussed in length with the individual
that endured the evaluation as they know the
results at the end of the process.
Driving
is to be taken seriously and we do not take
this process lightly. We are not swayed by anyone
when making the final decision regarding the
outcome of the evaluation.
